It is currently up for sale and the land is part of the Holbeck Urban Village. As a car park it has been empty for as long as we have been using it though signs state that it can be used for coach parking. though the space is largely empty it contains a wealth of detritus and detail to work from, The site is mainly recorded using photography, but some drawings and collections have also been made . Prior to being a car park an industrial building stood on the site as can clearly be seen by marks and patterns on the walls and floor as well as beams jutting from an adjacent building, however I have not been able to discover exactly what type of building it was neither have any of the estate agents handling it been able to tell me. Looking at the kind of structures left behind we have surmised it must have been some sort of mechanical or heavy industry workplace. We visited the Dutton and Swindell exhibit at PSL to gain an insight into collaborative practices. We’ve been working with a hybrid brief consisting of word association and the minutiae and debris that gives this space its history. The work will be based exclusively around the site and involves manipulation the documentation we’ve made on it to provide a viewpoint and critique on the history and feel of the space, the mystery of what it was before and what will happen to it in the future. our specific idea is to produce a retrospective exhibit and display this through the promotional media surrounding such events. This will be done through the production of photographs, posters and possibly photo books providing we have the resources. At the start of the module we attended a pinhole photography workshop where we developed and designed our own cameras. These have been utilised on the site and film and digital photography will continue to be an integral part. A variety of media have been used to experiment and record in the space, sketchbooks, film, digital and writing have been used. For the production of posters the digital print room will need to be used and photo books can be obtained from many high street suppliers, a certain amount of photographs can be printed for free via the Internet. Site Specific Proposal

Rob Cubbon and Rob Jameson

Our chosen site for this module is a large empty car park opposite tower mills in Leeds, between Globe road and Water lane.
